Class Dojo

As part of the ongoing development of Broomhill Junior School, one of our focus areas is how we engage with and inform parents in regard to all aspects of school but primarily the daily activities in class.

Two years ago we ran a very successful trail with parents and carers of 2 classes using the ClassDoJo APP. Class DoJo (www.classdojo.com) creates closed groups where teachers can instantly send messages and photos of activities in class to allow parents and carers greater access to the students learning experiences in school.

What is ClassDojo?

ClassDojo is a school communication platform that teachers, children and families use every day to build close-knit communities by sharing what’s being learned in the classroom home through photos, videos, and messages.

What are the benefits to using ClassDojo?

We feel that ClassDojo has multiple benefits and enhances your child's experience at our school:

  • Firstly, ClassDojo has a messaging system, so parents and carers have the ability to contact staff throughout the day. This is important to us as we can share personal achievements directly.
  • Secondly, it allows us to have an additional system in place to reward the positive behaviours that all of our children regularly show. Our children will receive points daily, for things such as trying hard in a spelling test or for showing positive relationships on the playground.
  • Thirdly, ClassDojo Translate is now available for teachers and parents everywhere! This means that we are able to communicate more effectively with a tap of a button.

Furthermore, you can hear important announcements and updates, and see photos and videos from class!

Is ClassDojo safe?

All of your child’s information is kept safe on ClassDojo. Only their teachers and you as their parents/carers can see their information. ClassDojo is COPPA-compliant and fully support FERPA.

Please see their privacy policy here at https://www.classdojo.com/website-privacy/

Other Information

This is an optional initiative and I fully understand that some parents and carers will not want to be involved, this is your choice. If you are not signed up yet and you wish to be, please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher. They will be more than happy to support you.

Class Dojo will not replace existing processes for contacting school for pupil absences, holiday requests, information re school meals etc.
