Distance Learning

At Broomhill Junior School, we are excited about and passionately believe in providing our children with the opportunity to be able to continue their learning remotely. Here you will find everything you need to know about our plan for remote learning for if your child has to self-isolate or if there is a period of time where your child's class bubble has to self-isolate.

An important part of our plan is to be able to communicate with our parents and children using ClassDojo as our online learning platform. We use the ClassDojo Portfolio feature to be able to provide children with tailored learning opportunities, share links to teaching videos and post activities and lessons for children to complete. Teachers will mark and feedback on the work set and monitor children's progress.

From the 22nd October 2020 the Government and Department for Education has clearly set out the expectations for schools in the event of school closure, bubble closure or pupils self-isolating. In response to this, we have written our plan clearly setting out how we are going to meet those expectations. Please click on the link below if you would like to read this.

As a parent, we ask for your support at home to enable children to continue with their learning. Children will be expected to complete the work set (unless your child is ill) and if no work is received from a child for two consecutive working days, a welfare call will be made by your child's class teacher.

In the event of your child needing to self-isolate, teachers will use ClassDojo to set four learning opportunities per day. This will include:

- A daily Maths lesson

- A daily English lesson

- A topic based lesson dependent on the planned timetable

- A physical activity

In the event of a whole class bubble closure, we will provide all children with an English and Maths exercise book to complete work in at home with the expectation that children will use the Classdojo Student portfolio to view the learning activities set. All children in school have been taught how to use this online learning platform.

Please see the links below for further information on our response to the Remote Learning, our Remote Learning Policy, Parent Guides for using ClassDojo and Microsoft Teams at home.
