Welcome from the Head Teacher

Welcome to Broomhill Junior School

On behalf of all the children, staff and governors I would like to welcome you to Broomhill Junior School and also to our unique Broomhill family.

I have had the absolute privilege of being Deputy Head  and Head Teacher at Broomhill for the last 26 years and consider it to be a very special place that gives children a wide range of learning experiences.

We are all very proud of the achievements and reputation of Broomhill Junior School and we recognise and celebrate success at every level. The life of the school is driven by an enthusiasm and a desire to be the very best that we can be. We have very high standards, in terms of behaviour, academic achievements and the quality of teaching and learning that we provide.

We aim to bring learning alive and make it exciting, stimulating and ultimately rewarding. We aim to give our children a thirst for learning that continues with them throughout their lives. We have developed a unique Broomhill Curriculum that teaches children a wide range of life skills. We do this by using our Forest School site, our gardens, our orchards, our Broomhill Bus and our Broomhill Farm.

An essential ingredient for this to happen is teamwork. We view education as a joint venture, involving everyone – children, parents/carers, staff, governors and the wider community. If we work together and have your co-operation and support in the partnership, we can provide the very best for every child. A strong parent/school relationship enables effective teaching and learning.

Our prospectus (which can be downloaded as a pdf document) has been created to answer as many questions as possible that might be asked about our school. We hope it will alleviate any anxieties that children (or parents) may have when joining us.

We are confident that our talented team of both teaching and non-teaching staff, we can provide a learning environment where the needs of all children are met. If parents should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.  My contact details are available by following the “About Us” and then “Contact Details” on the home page.

At Broomhill the children come first. The needs of an individual child are always our priority. We care for, value and respect each child’s contribution to the life of the school. Our clear objective is for the children to be happy, confident and have a total trust in the school, which you, the parents, must share.

During their time at school, we want the children to have access to the widest possible range of opportunities in which they can be involved, enjoy success and gain achievement. I want our entitlement to be a rich curriculum where happy well motivated children work alongside and together with a caring and fulfilled team of staff.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find the information you are looking for.

Please feel free to contact the school direct with any queries you may have.

Mr Andrew Beckinsale-Yates, Head Teacher.
