Volunteering in School

Parents and Volunteers

Welcome to Broomhill Junior School

At Broomhill we feel that the involvement of parents and volunteers in education is vital, as it greatly enhances the learning opportunities of our children. Parents are warmly welcomed into school to help with a range of group activities including:

  • Art (especially during theme days)
  • Food Technology
  • Numeracy
  • Literacy
  • Reading
  • Swimming lessons
  • Our exciting offsite educational day visits.

We believe that our school is open and welcoming to all who would like to support our children. However, our main priority is to ensure the safety of all the children in our care. Our aim is to ensure that the children benefit from as much help and support as possible, and are provided at the same time with the best possible security.

It is a requirement for schools to carry out a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for all staff and volunteers who have regular contact with children. All schools need to hold a register of the checks undertaken. In order for you to work in school as a volunteer, you will need to complete an online DBS check.

You will receive a full induction before you start your role as a volunteer/helper providing you with guidance on our school's policies and procedures to ensure the safety of our children.

If you are interested in volunteering in our school please contact Mrs Dabell in the school office on 0115 9525694.
