The Tate in Hucknall!

We took the entire school to see a travelling art gallery that was displaying a range of photos and painting from the Tate Gallery in London. We used our mini-bus to ferry all the children over four days to visit the gallery. It was fantastic to see original pieces that are usually only on display in London. On display were original pieces by Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Juan Gris, David Hockney, Roy Lichtenstein and Li Yuan chai to name a few. The children were transfixed!

Year Six had a brilliant day looking at the function of the heart and then actually dissecting a pig's heart. There are some budding surgeons in Year 6!

Fab 14 at the Snow Dome

Mr B-Y and Mr Chambers took the Fab 14 to the Snow Dome as a reward for outstanding behaviour throughout  the term. We had a brilliant time.

Broomhill's Autumn Spelling Bee 2023

We had our termly Spelling Bee. Ten children battled it out with each other. The overall winner was Respect.

CAD in Upper School

Upper school have been involved in designing and making moving vehicles using CAD. The results were amazing!

Pumpkin Picking in Oxton (2023)

On Monday 16th Mr B-Y and Mrs Allsop took 13 children pumpkin picking at a farm in Oxton. We chose one per class. The children each did a design and the pumpkin was carved. We chose our favourite during our Achievement Assembly.

Broomhill's Summer Fayre.

On Thursday 29th June we held a joint Summer Fayre with our friends at Butler's Hill. The event was well attended and it was great to see so many smiling faces. The children were all fantastic and parents and carers thoroughly enjoyed the event. A huge to thank you to all staff who helped make the event the success it was.

Broomhill at Nottingham University.

We took the whole of Year 6 to Nottingham University as part of their 'Raising Aspirations' programme. We spent the day at the University's sport faculty. The children experienced handball, American football, dodgeball and looked at what constitutes a healthy diet. We finished with a tour of their world class facilities. We all had a brilliant day.

Broomhill at Nottingham High School.

Mr Aherne went to Nottingham High School with some children from Broomhill for a Chemistry Murder Mystery Experience. They had a brilliant day and I can see some future chemists in the making!

FAB 14 at the Theatre Royal for The Demon Dentist.

Mr B-Y and Miss Monaghan took the Fab 14 on an exciting trip into Nottingham. We went for lunch at McDonalds the watched The Demon Dentist at the Theatre Royal. In the words of the children 'it was awesome!'

Fab 14 at the Snow Dome.

Mr B-Y and Mrs Duffin took our Fab 14 out for their treat visit to the Snow Dome in Tamworth. As you can see we had a great time. The Fab 14 are our 'always' children.

Our New Outdoor Gym.

We have just had a brand new thirty piece outdoor gym installed on our playground. This will be used to support the curriculum and for children to exercise on at playtimes and lunchtimes. It is absolutely brilliant! As you can see children and staff really enjoy it and it is great fun.

Fab 14 Trip to Wheelgate

Mr Priestley and I took our Fab 14 for last term for a brilliant day at Wheelgate Park. The Fab 14 are our 'always' children. Those children who always follow our 5Rs, always work hard, are always polite and well mannered and are always here. They are a credit to the school.

Today has been World Book Day and all at Broomhill have had a brilliant day. The children have taken part in book swops, shared their favourite book with their class, enjoyed reading with friends, had a book parade and enjoyed hearing stories read by 'guest' readers. Lots of the children and all of the staff dressed up. Please enjoy the photos below. As you can see we all had a brilliant time.

Year Six have just returned from an excellent residential at Kingswood in Pennistone near Sheffield. The children had a brilliant time and made lots of memories. as you can see the week was full on but great fun!

We have just replaced our whole school hall display. The focus in 'Reading for Pleasure'. I think you will agree that it looks fantastic. Once again a brilliant job by our entire Broomhill Family.

The whole school had hour workshops with professional middle weightboxer Derrick Osaze. Derrick became Ultimate Boxxer III middleweight champion in 2019. He has won ten out of eleven fights. The children had a brilliant two days with him.

The whole of Year 6 has been taking part in some biology lessons as part of their science topic. As you can see there are some budding doctors at Broomhill!

Broomhill sent a tree that we had designed and made to the Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary's Church in Hucknall. The fantastic news is that our tree received the most votes and was voted the best tree. well done Broomhill and thank you to Mrs Duffin and Miss Crockett for their inspiration and hard work.

Roman Warrior Day!

Lower school had a brilliant afternoon, putting into practice everything that they have learned about the Romans. They got in close formation ready to defend themselves against their enemies. Let battle commence!

Fab 14 Trip

On 18th November we took or latest Fab 14 out for the day to Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The Fab 14 are children chosen each half term and they are our 'always' children. Always here, always beautifully behaved, always polite, always working hard and always following our 5Rs. As you can see we had a great day out!

Remembrance Day

We were fortunate to be invited to the Cenotaph in Hucknall by the Royal British Legion. I was proud to send a group of children to pay their respects to all armed forced personnel who lost their lives during war. They represented the school superbly.

The children were joined by veterans and also former pupil Jayden Goodman who is a serving member of the armed forces.

Drumming.

We had two brilliant days when Jai came in and did drumming workshops with the whole school. As you can see by the photographs we all had brilliant fun. The school was filled with music and rhythm.

Victorian Poses

As part of their Revolution topic upper school looked at actual portraits from Victorian times. The children then worked together to copy them. Our children do not normally look miserable!

Wheelchair Basketball Sept 2021

TT Rockstar Day September 2021.

We all had a brilliant day dressing up as our favourite rock star and learning our times tables.

Our new brilliant hall display 'Let's Connect.' A huge thank you to our entire Broomhill Family and a big thank you to Miss Broderick for putting it up.

Year Four Anglo Saxon day.

Following Y5's trip to Wollaton Hall a group of Trent University students came into work with Y5. They did some printing, modroc, model making and sketching. As you can see they all had a brilliant time.
