As a school, we are now following Spelling Shed as our main spelling program. Spelling Shed currently has a positive reputation of being the number one spelling program in the UK for schools. 

Your child will be taught spellings weekly via discrete spelling lessons which will teach them spelling patterns appropriate to their age/ group following the National Curriculum spelling appendix. Each lesson will give children strategies for learning their spellings; linking to their knowledge of phonemes and syllables. Additionally, sessions will teach children about the meaning of words and different letter strings. Spelling lessons will follow a four-part sequence which will include: Revise (revision of already known words), Introduction (introducing the new spelling pattern/ challenge words), Teach and Consolidation via children completing independent work 

Each child in school has a Spelling Shed login. This login means at home or in school, children can go on the Spelling Shed website https://www.edshed.com/  and play a range of interactive spelling games which will help them learn their spellings. On the Spelling Shed website, this will be termed assignments. Teachers will be setting children online assignments (interactive games) weekly to enable them to practise their spellings.
